Former Bush Ethics Lawyer Says Republicans Have Impeachment Trial 'Rigged,' Warns 'GOP Will Not Survive'

Richard W. Painter, who served as the chief White House ethics lawyer in President George W. Bush's administration, warned that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has acted in a "corrupt" manner and has "rigged" a potential Senate trial for President Donald Trump.

"This is about the rule of law, not partisanship. I am an independent and am a critic of corrupt Democrats as well as Republicans here in Minnesota and elsewhere. For me the facts are clear: ⁦@senatemajldr⁩ has this impeachment trial rigged. "

In a previous Sunday evening tweet, the legal expert warned: "The conduct of @senatemajldr in this impeachment trial is corrupt and partisan beyond the pale. The GOP will not survive if this continues." Painter asserted that "this is not about partisan politics," noting that he has "taken on corrupt Democrats" in the past as well.

A family member posted one of those stupid "Trump donated his salary to (some random thing). Isn't he so great?"

Everything Trump does is dishonest, but this one really ticks me off.

This is an absolutely trivial and irrelevant amount of money compared to what he has literally stolen through violations of the emoluments clause of the Constitution.

He has stolen $115 million and counting by illegally forcing the government to pay his resorts - the most despicable act of self-dealing in government history.

This man is a liar, a thief, a cheat, a scammer of charities (Just recently convicted and fined $2 million for defrauding charities), an adulterer, and an evil fiend who separates families from each other and cages children.

Posting ANY deceptive crap like this that tries to argue there is ANYTHING positive about this guy is to be complicit in his evil regime.

"Last week, Justice Saliann Scarpulla of the New York Supreme Court ordered President Donald Trump to pay $2 million in restitution to charity after admitting to New York Attorney General Letitia James that he and his children had violated their fiduciary duties as officers and directors of the now-shuttered Donald J. Trump Foundation. As a result of that failure, charitable dollars — consistently and over many years — often benefited Trump rather than the causes the president has repeatedly claimed he supports."

Just ** FOUR ** trips studied in Feb/Mar 2017 cost the government $13.5 million dollars - PAID TO TRUMP OWNED MAR-A-LAGO.

He stole $13 and a half million dollars from the US taxpayers in 2 months on 4 trips.

Congressman Accuses Trump Of Stock Market Fraud And Opens Investigation

Specifically, Trump is suspected of manipulating futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange by making statements that allowed investors to turn billions of dollars in profits, some of which may have directly benefited Trump and members of his family, according to a blockbuster report from Vanity Fair:
“There Is Definite Hanky-Panky Going On”: The Fantastically Profitable Mystery of the Trump Chaos Trades

One longtime CME trader who has been watching with disgust says he’s never seen anything quite like these trades, not at least since al-Qaida cashed in before initiating the September 11 attacks. “There is definite hanky-panky going on, to the world’s financial markets’ detriment,” he says. “This is abysmal.”

Trump takes credit for decline in cancer deaths. The American Cancer Society says he's wrong

President Donald Trump insinuated in a tweet on Thursday that his administration played a role in the US cancer death rate hitting a record low in 2017. The American Cancer Society says that's not true.

    ...

The report, published in CA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians, said that the cancer death rate had fallen "continuously" from 1991 through 2017.

Scores of Republican lawmakers enriched themselves off the Trump tax cuts

Sad, but not shocked. The national debt increased by $3 trillion under Trump and the only people benefiting are the super rich and corporations. We could give everyone free health care, forgive student debt, family/medical leave, subsidize college, and more instead of this. What a sad and disgusting waste of our nation's wealth. All so a few thousand people can add to their dragon's hoard of wealth that is more than they could ever spend.

We are living in a dystopia.

"Last year, the government collected $150 billion less in corporate tax revenue."

"Though Republicans argued the law would lead to increased business investment and higher wages for employees, corporations instead used the windfall to buy back stock and raise dividends that lead to more money going to shareholders. Buybacks, which jack up stock prices, exceeded $1 trillion in 2018, the report said."
National Debt Increased by $3 Trillion During Donald Trump's Three Years as President

Nearly four years after then-presidential candidate Donald Trump said he would eliminate the federal debt in eight years, the deficit has since risen by more than 16 percent under his presidency.

In the three years he’s been president (during two of which his party controlled both houses of Congress) the national debt has increased by
    $3,266,795,731,264.14.

U.S. farm bankruptcies hit an eight-year high: court data

Amazing how losing a trade war for 3 years with our most important international trade partner for agricultural goods results in farmers going bankrupt at record rates.

The whole "Trump is good for the economy" farce needs to be more widely exposed. It simply isn't accurate.

I would never defend trade wars, and I won't downplay the importance of farmers, but there is likely a bigger picture there than just "the trade war". Agriculture is a fast paced industry that is getting harder and harder for the "family farm" to do competitively. Bankruptcy is not necessarily a herald of the end-times. If it turns out that the changes in our agricultural landscape are a good thing, I don't want to give Trump too much credit.
