Women did not demand that men give them more money. They demanded equal treatment. They didn't say "You've been so unfair to us for centuries, so now we want you to give us land, wealth, etc". No, they said "Everyone should have the same right to vote". That's completely different. That's what I object to here. I'm not saying that inequalities need to be resolved, and I'm not saying that white supremacy is good. I'm objecting to the notion that "swipe that credit card for me NOW" is the thing to demand.

Actually, they demanded equal rights, and equal pay for the same job. A demand that women still fight for today. Anyhow, I digress. s:

The madball Left (I consider myself somewhat left of centre on most things) has come entirely full circle and, once again, has begun eating itself.

It's supposed to be "let's not categorise everything based on race, sex, or anything you can't control"

Except it's actually "everything boils down to categorising human beings as much as possible"

For people who are apparently against sexism, they love boiling things down to sex. For people opposed to racism, they sure do bring up race every time they breathe.

The madness of the left has undoubtedly pushed many to the right. Those who are relatively on the fence take one look at Antifa, BLM, etc, and say to themselves "well...I'm certainly not THAT"

I agree with a bit of what Khaltek said about pushing so hard that people who were left of the center leaped back to the right.

I disagree with the idea of talking about sexism, racism, or any other ism's for that matter until certain things get fixed. If you intentionally punch someone in the face, and never say sorry. Then you and that person will more than likely always be at odds. Many times simply acknowledging a problem exists goes a long way in finding a solution.

A more pessimistic approach about this topic is the victim blaming game. It's kind of like a man who abuses his girlfriend and then blames her for making him assault her. If she wasn't so sensitive. She's so unappreciative. If only she had did everything that he asked her to do.

Ugh, why can't she just get over it?

When historical truths come to light; many within the majority lose their shit. They act as the sky is falling because everything that they might have known was nothing more than a rouse to keep them as functioning cog within a system that they don't know exists, don't care that it exists, or know it exists, and want to continue benefiting from the system.

All of that being said, I'm not an advocate of throwing the baby out with the bath water. There are many great things about America, but America could've been the greatest if it spent more time organizing people around great ideas than skin color, and finding a better balance between bombs and education.

I do agree basically 100%, Vyrn. I think there is very much a happy medium to be found somewhere. The polarisation of each side is driving the polarisation of the other side, and it's a horrible feedback loop. What people need to do is sit down and talk, and recognise that the other side have valid concerns, but who the fuck sees that happening?

People's right to free association should be maintained, the government's influence on people's lives should be limited to protecting the inalienable rights of all persons, all people should be treated equally under the law, and the sins of the father should not be visited upon the son. I'm pretty sure that would solve all the problems that can actually be solved by society.

This is why I think Democrats will continue to be slaughtered in elections. They opened up this pandora's box of identity politics that's already biting them in the rear. Remember all the counties Obama won handily in 08 and 12, that seemingly flipped red overnight in 16? It's stunning when you think about it.
