It is funny, among my white male friends who "hate the police" they almost seem to seek confrontation with them and it boggles my mind. If you are not on their radar, why would you even want to put yourself there? Some of them do it for "solidarity" with those who are affected most by the police to which I say to them, "save it, you aren't helping the issue by getting locked up for stupidity." My parents always taught me to comply with police orders and that the street was not the place to make my arguments. There is certainly a culture of anti-police mentality amongst minorities (even members of my own family have some rather unfortunate things to say about them), but it only serves to antagonize and complicate already tense situations. Yes, both sides need work but someone has to take the first step. I would rather set the tone for something than have it set for me by being the one to act first.
