I don't know. I'm definitely not a proponent of compulsory voting. I more like the idea that voting isn't a right that everyone should have. I don't think sex or race should determine ones ability to vote. However, I don't know why we ever got away from "landowner" being a prerequisite. Though today I would say "property owner (commercial/industrial/residential)" would be a good way to go. However, now that we've convinced America that voting is a right all Americans are entitled to, even those who don't use it will be outraged if it were taken away.
