This was why I pointed out Woodrow Wilson. He created the "Great Society" because he believed that society was too stupid to know what it wanted. In his time as president he put in place a couple lasting structures for change, advancing his progressive agenda. Insert disaster here. Those structures are expanded upon, infringing upon financial freedom further. The systems of entitlements are set on rails.I don't mind blaming politicians when they fuck up, but over a long period of time, your politicians reflect what society wants.
It is my idealistic belief that MOST politicians at the federal level at least start out as good people who want what is best for the US. At some point they show up for work one day and are faced with this massive tower of government built on a foundation that was only intended for a single story house. That foundation is crumbling. A large portion of taxpaying patriotic Americans would rather just get rid of the tower than build a whole new foundation.
Another portion of those Americans actually BELIEVE in the foundation. They believe that there is no way to build a stronger foundation. The foundation of any goverment can only support a single story house and that any structure built larger will eventually crumble. Those Americans believe that the foundation is the rights of the people, and they believe that the government doesn't even build it, God does.
