I am not sure if it is all government interference. Countries like Denmark have free education and post education (in fact, they have paid education rather than free). I can see how that can affect social mobility much more than anything else.
You're absolutely correct, but how do you fund it? Taxes of course. Which is government interference in its very core.

What I am suggesting is that America was designed to operate with limited government interference. Over the past couple of centuries, that design has been intentionally remodeled, but still exists on the old foundation. A foundation which was never intended to support the structure that we have today.
I don't mind blaming politicians when they fuck up, but over a long period of time, your politicians reflect what society wants. If remodeling had been done, it's because society wanted it. If what you are suggesting is correct and the foundation cannot support the current structure, then obviously the foundation needs to be reworked and not the structure itself because the structure is society's face right now. It's what's good and bad about democratic/republic regimes - the train keeps going and sometimes your direction and some times the opposite direction, but it can't be stopped.
