Not sure where I read it, but there is an option on YouTube to view the video on HTML5.

Also agree that Jobs is living in his Apple Bubble if he really thinks that people who own websites are going to spend time redoing their site with HTML5 if they have Flash.

Youtube is viewable on iPad/iPhone/iPod touch via a custom application put together by Apple and Youtube... but apparently no one else gets Flash. My theory on the matter is that if they allow flash-based interaction, why would people pay for their stupid touch games when you can play 8650138275601786435 of them for free on the interwebs with flash-based games.

Jobs pinches one off and throws it in a pretty case again, charges like a wounded bull for the privelage. As usual, idiot fanbois lap it up with relish.

Tune in next quarter when I'll tell you the same fuckin thing.

I def wont be getting this version, but come generation 2 or 3 I'll be buying one.

Since I have given up gaming, all I really do on the computer is read websites and write emails. I find that I use my iphone far more than the laptop cuz it's less cumbersome - the downside is my eyes get tired from reading such a little screen.

A tablet is pretty much perfect for my needs so I'm not much understanding the hate!

Apple have a history of missing something really really obvious - there's some insane plausibility to the jokes that some day they'll make a phone that doesn't do calls, for instance. In this case, they've made a tablet with no way to use it for notetaking, and that's surely one of the most obvious uses for a tablet with a touchscreen. The real problem, though, is that their lock-down policy makes it much too hard for someone else to add the functionality. The "bolt whatever you like on" policy of Linux and, to a lesser extent, Windows, allows anyone to write anything, publish it via the web, invite people to download and test it, and improve the device out of all recognition.

    Why does Jobs hate flash?
Capitalization is the difference between "I had to help my Uncle Jack off a horse." and "I had to help my uncle jack off a horse."

Microsoft, Apple, Google, Adobe - all huge players in the market, and all with dependencies linking them, but all hating each other. Each one would do without the others if it could.

I think it's more that Steve Jobs doesn't want to *PAY* Adobe to bring Flash to the iPhone/etc.

As I said earlier, I think it's also because if people can play free flash-based games on their phone/whatever, why would they pay $1-5 bucks to play the same game on their phone (of which Apple gets at least a 50% cut)?

The thing is, seeing how the phone has gone, I give people maybe a week tops before the iPad gets cracks, unlocked and modded. Which, as we've seen with the iPhone thusfar, is pretty much the only way to make the thing NOT a crippled pile of crap, and actually be able to make phone calls on the thing (by using it with other cellphone carriers).

I see the point of it, and I can see where it will be good for some people. But I don't think it's god's gift to the internet (which Jobs does). If the iPhone has taught us anything, it's that virtual keyboards *SUCK*... and from all reports thusfar, the iPads is at the very least just as bad. And the *ONLY* way to use a real keyboard on the thing is to buy Apple's docking station (no USB ports and no bluetooth, sorry). Oh, and have I mentioned yet that it *CANNOT* multitask? At all? Period?

Couple that with no flash and I don't see how anyone could even think of the iPad as a neat little Web-surfing device. No bluetooth is just unforgivable.
