Actually, they have indeed made many stupid moves and done things their customers hated. That's how they almost went out of business a decade ago, and were saved by a huge cash infusion from Microsoft.
With Steve Jobs being on the list of 5 signatures for the patent I'm going to take the stance that this isn't the evil masterplan for Apple to rule the world via forced advertising.
With everything released on this incident so far there is very little fact on any of the articles besides they applied for a patent for advertising in which the customer has to acknowledge the ad. That's it. Any other paragraph written is the interpretation of the writer on what "may" happen if this patent does gets approved.
Personally before I start boycotting Apple products I'm going to wait and see their announcement for what they plan to do with the patent, rather than the wild interpretations of a few writers.
