But considering this is a very insular and tightly knit community and we don't happen to have any powerful Imams or Popes amongst us then it might be more reasonable, in this particular environment, to just live and let live?

I mean, it's your forum and your rules, and what you say goes, I just find the attitudes of some people genuinely unpleasant on certain matters.
