Lucky her! It looks like a sweet camera.
I am searching all of these camera reviews and I think I am officially on camera overload. Ugh.

It stands for "Single Lens Reflex", as Achtius said, but what it really means (especially in the digital world) is that you can unscrew the lens and put a different one on (eg telephoto). It's generally a feature of high-end cameras, rather than the cheaper point-and-shoot type.Originally posted by Ismenia
Oh yeah.. what does SLR stand for?

I pressed the Ctrl key, but I'm still not in control!
I am rather unfamiliar with brands that are not Canon (and that is obviously my recommendation). I know that most (if not all) Canon cameras have a "Sports" mode, wich allows you to take really quick photos (not even much slower than the SLRs and with an image stabilizer you can even get pretty good quality).

Well I ended up getting a Nikon Coolpix L100. It was between that and a Sony Cybershot. So we will have to see how I like it. I have 14 days to take it back if I don't. It has 15x optical zoom though, which I tried it out in the store and it worked really great. It is a little bigger than a normal point and shoot due to the lens. The guy at the store said Nikon's are known for good lens.
I was a little hesitant to get another Canon since my last one died after only having it 2 years.
Thanks for the help and input guys.
