BC threatens to fire coach over Jets interview

    Hilarious.

BC threatens coach over Jets interview

Boston College coach Jeff Jagodzinski has been told he will be fired if he interviews for the head coaching vacancy with the New York Jets, which is scheduled for Monday, according to sources.

Despite the threat from athletic director Gene DeFilippo, Jagodzinski plans to do the interview with the Jets, the sources said. Those sources said that in the event Jagodzinski is fired, BC would promote offensive coordinator Steve Logan to head coach.
In the comments, a lot of fans spew on and on about how this shows poor "loyalty" from the coach.

    Loyalty?

How much loyalty did BC show to the Big East (which promoted the heck out of BC) when they jumped ship to help the ACC grow to 12 teams?

How much loyalty do schools show to coaches when they send them packing even when they are doing well? Tommy Tuberville, Phil Fulmer, etc.

Jagodzinski should definitely interview. Even if he doesn't get the Jets job, he can laugh all the way to the bank when BC fires him and still has to pay him for the next 2 years.

And BC: Good luck hiring a quality coach when you pull this little maneuver. ROFL.

One thing about this is that they can fire him with cause which would terminate the contract and they would not have to pay him. Of course, he would then sue and someone else would decide if he gets paid or not but he is putting that money at risk.

I am actually sick of these college coaches screwing over the team and their recruits by not honouring the contract.

The coaches and the players weren't the ones that decided to leave the Big East. That was done at an institutional level and I was very disappointed when the Big East had those departures. Growing up in Big East territory I grew a special disliking for BC that is now gone.
    Don't get too perky!

I'm still annoyed at them for that. Virginia Tech and Miami also left, which made some people think the Big East was gonna go bye-bye.

    I would agree, except:

    1) You spelled honoring wrong.

    2) The colleges are screwing over coaches just as much. The firing of Tommy Tuberville was freakin' asinine. Phil Fulmer, whom I hate, certainly didn't deserve to go out the way he did.

Yeah. All the more reason to roll one's eyes at BC's administration talking big about loyalty.
