That was a pretty good article. I used Vista a bit, and didn't hate it like I expected to. I only stopped using it because it didn't present a clear advantage over XP to me.
Add in some neat features, a bit of polish, decent performance and good driver support... well now it starts to sound useful. I've liked messing around with the beta so far, at least. As a natural keyboard junkie, I like stuff like this:
Less mouse use required --> Happy Talsek. For keyboardists, the story is even better. Microsoft has finally decided that it would be a good idea to have keyboard shortcuts to minimize and maximize windows. No more alt+space, N or alt+space, X menu-based shenanigans—we now have Win+Up Arrow to maximize, Win+Down Arrow to restore or minimize. This is a window management godsend. The docking to the left and right is available too, with Win+Left Arrow and Win+Right Arrow. Peeking at the desktop can be done with Win+Space. For those with multiple monitors, there are also shortcuts to move windows between displays; Shift+Win+Arrow will move the current window to a different display. It makes me wonder why it took them the best part of 20 years to add, but I'm ever so glad that they have.
