Wow. This is a pretty extreme change.
Report: 2010 Pro Bowl to be played in Miami before Super Bowl
I'm not sure what I think about this. I'll say one thing, it might make it more interesting and more watched if it happens BEFORE the Super Bowl.

One thing is for sure, the game will be in a nicer stadium. Aloha Stadium sucks. I might have to make more of an effort to go to the Pro Bowl this year though!
"Believe it or not, I'm a complete catch."
The pro bowl sucks in general.... This was a sheer tactic to increase revenue.

But of course! The NFL is barely making any money now, dontchaknow? That's why they had to lay off 100 people.Originally posted by Kailen

What do you all think though... will this result in more people watching and/or caring about the Pro Bowl? I think it will indeed accomplish that goal. A meaningless game before the end of the season is more interesting than a meaningless game after it.

The league's plan is for players on the AFC and NFC championship squads not to take part in the Pro Bowl.
Wonder how many that will be?
And is it fair to them?
No one wants to get hurt in a Game that means nothing but Bragging Rights but still to be a Pro Bowler and not play in it?

The sad fact is that tons of people who play in the Super Bowl end up skipping the Pro Bowl anyway. But not all do, so you are right there are people who will be kinda screwed. The ones who skip tend to be the perennial Pro Bowlers for whom it is not something all that special. But for someone to make their first (and perhaps only) pro bowl, missing that chance might be a bummer. The whole week leading up to it has fun stuff as well, no?Originally posted by xaxer

But then again, these are millionaires. Boo Hoo if they don't get their little week of extra special pampering and hero worship.
I really can't decide how I feel about this idea. I think the NFL is trying to capitalize on the fact that "All Star" games in other sports are far more exciting and viewed due to the fact that they take place DURING the season. This makes sense. But football is a much different sport, and injury is a far more serious issue. Maybe the NFL should just be happy with the fact that they stomp the other sports into the dirt in every other area, and just let the other sports have their "popular" All-Star games.
