They do not stay poor because of the color of their skin or any of the social trends that go with that color. They stay poor because of the choices they make.
I don't think Gromgor's using that as an accurate depiction, more the sort of role model that black Americans are given. God knows, the youth of our own indigenous population here in Australia relate readily enough to the 'gangsta nigga' image, much to the lamentations of the few Aborigines valiantly attempting to instill a little cultural pride and honor into them.So the video you may have seen on tv, or the tv show that portrays a dysfunctional family isn't an accurate representation of all black folks, or people of poverty of that matter.
Call it white zionist conspiracy if you like, but every commercial music station, both televised and radio, seems to laud these indiviauals.
"This is talent! This is cool! Girls, be classless sluts! Guys, shoot each other and commit felonies, all the cool kids are doing it!"
It seems to me that black kids get a double barrel of this, as they seemingly identify with these individuals, not just as people to aspire to, but also as individuals from their own socioeconomic circumstances.
Whilst I wasn't terribly confident about Obama's policies, overall I am glad that he was elected president. He is most definitely a person for black youth to aspire to.
To bastardize the song Gromgor was referring to earlier, "Run fo office, run fo office, fuck bein' street!"
