    Holocaust denier arrested.

    An Australian Holocaust denier, Toben, who posted his position on the internet has been arrested in London to be extradited to Germany where he might face 5 years jail.
    I absolutely oppose and loathe these holocaust deniers, however, I don't feel comfortable that someone can be jailed by another country for posting a political opinion to the internet in your own country.

    I'm curious to know what "evidence" they point to in their denial of the historical event.

    Is it illegal in Australia to be a holocaust denier? Or to post such commentary in Australia?

    Not denying the holocaust per se, but we do have vilification laws of which is what his court case was about. He was charged with vilifying Jewish people.

    The arrest in Britain pertains to 'hate crimes' and 'defamation of the dead' laws from Germany.

    This is a sticky one. I'm not sure I really have an opinion of posting on the Internet and the jurisdiction of laws. It does open up a whole can of worms legally though.
