    Mobile / cell phones

I'm looking at getting a new phone, and I've narrowed it down to 2. Problem is, I'm indecisive.

I use a camera quite frequently, because I don't carry a digital camera with me, and it needs to have some sort of flash.

Music player - because I don't carry an i-Pod everywhere

E-mail and internet - big plus for mobile facebook.

    Bluetooth

That's about it. Navigation software is nice, because I get lost easily, but it all really comes down to ease of use and appearance.

    N96 -

Pro's- it's the NEXT BIG THING, and everyone wants one.
It has every thing I could think of needing and more
It looks really good, and feels nice in the hand
My partner is upgrading his N95 for one

Con's - I wouldn't understand how to use half of the features
It's really expensive here and not included as a free handset (and I hate paying extra)
I don't want to wait for atleast 6 weeks to get one
New phones need time to work the bugs out
    Battery life

    6210 Navigator -

Pro's - looks just as good as the N96
Has all the features I need, without having to pay for what I won't use
    Half the price
I can get it free on my plan
    Navigation software (I don't have a TomTom/GPS unit)
It's available now, and it's been out for about 6 weeks without any major faults
I like the keyboard everyone has been iffy about

    Con's - it's not the N96
Having to pay for navigation software
    3.2 vs 5 MP camera
Mixed reviews have me a little cautious, because everyone is singing the praises of the N96
    Battery life

I've talked to a number of mobile retailers (and having worked in the industry know they are full of shit and only in it for the maximum profit), and continue to get mixed opinions about which is better.

So, which do you think is the better phone overall? I don't need gadgets, I need a phone that works, plays music, takens photos and gets me on the internet.

Wasn't long ago that those three things were considered gadgets.

    Oh technology.

I'm using an ancient Nokia phone because my fancy one died, and I find that I love the simplicity. My ears are getting a rest from the constant thumping music, and it's now just a phone again, rather than a black hole that sucks all of my attention.

Also, so many people walking around with headphones on look like fucking donks, I may never go back.

P.S. I'm sure this post did not help AT ALL, bai.

Yeah, I have to say those are all gadgets. And the playing music one is huge, as that requires disk space and drains battery like a bitch.

What do you consider a gadget? Double dong vibrator attachment?

No, that's a good way to waste a day...

As for gadgets - things like the N96's ability to stream TV.

To what extent is weight an issue? If you want something REALLY good, but somewhat heavier to lug around, get yourself a mini laptop and a wireless internet connection. Do everything over VOIP.

You need a phone that works - VOIP works. Plays music - yes, and you can get yourself a pair of 3.5mm headphones WAY cheaper than any of those official branded phone hands-free kits. Takes photos - okay, granted, cameras aren't part of most laptops. But the cameras included in phones are pretty bleh anyway, so you'd probably get equal results from a standard USB webcam ($20 or $30 or something). Gets you on the internet - sure will. And a laptop has a real keyboard.

Rosuav... she wants a mobile phone. A laptop is not a mobile phone replacement.

True, but I have trained my family to send an SMS to my laptop if they can't get through to me.

I don't know much about all the phones and why you should pick one over the other but I am currently considering the "HTC Touch Pro" and it should be able to handle your requirements and has the QWERTY keyboard which is nice for people like me who are really slow at the ones you find on normal mobiles.

Else the Touch HD should be out in a month or two... that one sound amazing.

Not sure if these phones fail on your gadget list though because it seem like you can do just about anything with these phones.

Nor can I. For instance, I'm posting this from the roof of the theatre, in the middle of sorting out major problems with the lighting. I can't leave myself without Thresh.
