John McCain Campaign Takes a +3 Vorpal Blade to Dungeons & Dragons Players

Ok seriously, this article was more than just funny. As a gamer, I can't get past the suggestion that Obama fans are D&D geeks while the REST of America (read: "most Americans") are a humble, conscientious lot without wondering what happened to shows like Leave it to Beaver.

On top of it all, we get to vote on which D&D Character McCain would be!

I don't mind voting on this pressing issue before the floor...

McCain is very much towards the center, he is against ANWR, and I believe he voted against offshore drilling some years ago. People and the media keep trying to paint him as a hardcore republican and he is not.

I seem to recall that John Kerry asked McCain to be his VP running mate before he asked Edwards. McCain declined, however.

    He is definitely very moderate.

That D&D slur was lame and uncalled for. The stupid aide who went there should be fed to an umber hulk.

If I'm not mistaken, alot of the D&D crowd is older and more conservative than they were when McCain was familiar with their grandparents. That aide just made a really poor bash at a large demographic. It's a better idea to bash an audience that is largely not old enough to vote. Video Gamers hardly fit into that category any more, but it would be a step in the right direction.

    Great find, Karahd.

McCain son of Gloin, of the house Republicas.

That picture of him as a Monster Manual entry is great.

I liked the entry of whomever made him into a Gelatinus Cube. Could you imagine a McCain Cube in Thresh? It eats only Democrats.

This whole thing is stupid in so many ways.

In my experience with Threshold, playing D&D, and in general being a part of "gamer culture", I have found that gamer types tend to lean in a libertarian direction. I'm not saying they are libertarians, I'm just saying there tends to be an extremely high belief in personal responsibility, liberty, minimal government intervention, etc.

For a moderate conservative like McCain, this would be a potentially allied demographic.

But his aide is too much of a stupid idiot to realize this.

God I hate politics and what it has become.

    Haha

The Umber hulk idea was classic.

    Made me laugh muchly.

Id like to suggest the logical-leap alternative should an umber hulk prove to be too much manual labor....pecked/sucked to death by a flock of stirges! *tingle*

Stirges would see a politician as one of them.

    Hence he would be safe.
