Maybe you look for something different in your entertainment to what I do, upon which I'm sure we can agree.

Sporting events: entertainment
Opening shows for sporting events: entertainment

Was I entertained? That's the question I ask. Was it fraudulent? That's somewhat irrelevant. Is it unreasonable to just expect to be entertained on the face value of what was provided? I really don't think so. You seem to find veracity to be an attribute of your entertainment (or at least when they -tell- you they're being 'truthful'), so sure to you the fraudulence of the event may have undermined the original entertainment value you received, but that's just not an important qualifier to me in terms of what I get out of the entertainment.

IMO this is a similar problem exhibited by those who are not able to watch a movie based on a book, or a game, or a TV show without comparing it in a dismal light if it is not as good as, or not the same as the original, or original intent.

Perhaps my attitude that entertainment is ALWAYS fraudulent and that it will NEVER be as good or the same as the book was born of a jaded cynicism on my part, but I'll tell you: enjoying something based on the face value on what is presented alone leads to a more fulfilling enjoyment of the event/spectacle/whatever.
