Ari, I think I too will have to side with Karahd and Deryk on this. There are far far far worse things going on in China, and yet we only start to care about the Chinese government when they tell a little girl that she is not cute enough for stage?Originally posted by Aristotle
Find someone who sings good enough and is cute enough. Don't perpetrate a fraud.
I am confused as to what exactly you are upset about. If you are upset that a little girl was rather unceremoniously told she was ugly (and the possible psychological damage that could do) - that does happen everyday in Hollywood.
Honestly, both parties agreed. The girl singing was willing just to sing. The girl performing was willing just to perform.
If you are upset that you were given a bait and switch, how do you feel about body doubles? Stunt doubles? Go to a broadway performance and I guarantee at least half are lip syncing to their own pre-recorded stuff at some point in the show. And you thought you were watching a LIVE performance! *gasps* So many other things are along the same lines. How about this did you see Star Wars Ep 1, 2, 3? What about the nastiness that went on with David Prowse? Why not be outraged at George Lucas?
Show business is attempting to put on the greatest show possible for entertainment purposes. It isn't about anything else.
I agree it is kind of sucky but they chose to give it a shot, they wanted the best possible performance.
I again echo Karahd and wonder, if we as a society are outraged at this more than we are about years of oppression, violence, executions, and so many other atrocities, I would argue that we are a shallow society no better than theirs.
