The Taiwan of the Middle East
I think the article is entirely off.
First of all, the comparison of China to the West is ridiculous (had he compared the whole Palestinian entities to Israel I might have accepted it, though I still think it's a flawed argument).
The next problem is that I don't think the population, currently, has any intention or ambition to do something "useful" and that's the basic thing they are lacking and that the folks in the far east have plenty of - ambition to be better than the west. The Palestinians just want to kill the west. The difference in thoughts and beliefs make the whole argument, again, flawed.
In addition, I don't think I want to see an economical flourish in a country led by the vile Hamas regiment.
The only thing I can agree with is that an economy relying on agriculture is not going to work, and never will in the Gaza Strip (in the West Bank it has a chance, since there are numerous water resources there), so perhaps if sanity and ambition ever returns to the streets of Gaza, the idea of implementing some Hi-Tech factories in there will be a viable one.
Bottom line - this article is a load of bullcrap.
