Scott McClellan dishes in his memoirs

Oh dear, another former Bush Administration member gets it wrong.
    Where's the love Scotty?
    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080528/...mcclellan_book

Said former top aide Karl Rove, in an interview with Fox News Channel, "If he had these moral qualms, he should have spoken up about them. And frankly I don't remember him speaking up about these things. I don't remember a single word."
Yeah, that's because you'd get his ass fired Karl!! It's what you do best!!

McClellan admits that some of his own words from the podium in the White House briefing room turned out to be "badly misguided." But he says he was sincere at the time.
Translation: I lied my ass off because it was my job.

Seems like an attempt to CYA while trying to make a few dollars in the process. Being yet one more Bush bash book is the only reason I can think of why it is getting any press. Doubt that either side of the political debate really gives a flying rat's ass anymore, and are just waiting for January to roll around to be done with it. I'd be shocked if it sells more than 100,000 copies.

Smart move on his part though... MSNBC is prolly scrambling to get him signed to a contract. He'll at the very least be the latest 'unbiased inside expert' on some of the news channels.

Since he's obviously no longer towing the party line, you surely won't be seeing him as expert on Fox News anytime soon.

The part that I found interesting was the white house spokesman who made the comment that the language used in the book didn't even sound like McClellan. As if he'd just 'Given a pen to a left-wing publisher and signed his name at the bottom.'
Don't mistake lack of measurable talent for genius.

    That wasn't the quote, Maelgrim:
TRENT DUFFY: It doesn't match anything we knew about Scott, it doesn't match his behaviour when he was at the White House. It's like he just turned over the pen to a publisher and signed his name at the bottom and got a big fat book contract.
KARL ROVE: This doesn't sound like Scott, it really doesn't, not the Scott McClelland I've known for a long time. Sounds like a left-wing blogger.

Here he is talking with Meredith Veira
    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/0..._n_104049.html

What boggles my mind is the almost religious reverence White House insiders give President Bush. They act so shocked that he might have lied to them or misled them somehow. Is it Stepfordville in there or something?
McClellan's answers were very well rehearsed, just like he was back up behind the podium in the Press Room.

He's just trying to make money and at the same time distance himself from a sinking ship. It's become very fashionable of late to hate the bush administration. Profitable too.

The complicit media who helped sell the war is also slowly coming out saying "Awww, shucks!! We should've pressed the administration harder on their Iraq War talking points. We'll be sure to do a better job next time!!".

Of course they'll do better next time, unless people don't want to hear it. Media outlets are buisness. They're selling a product, and need the maximum number of viewers to increase that product's value. And lets face it, people don't like hearing opinions different than their own or facts that call their opinions into question. Sept 11th happened, Bush's popularity was soaring, media outlets didn't want to risk alienating a good chunk of America by digging deep. Now, Bush's popularity is at one of the lowest a president has ever had the honor of having, Media outlets want to cash in on the fact by doing all the tell alls.

So lets face it. They'll tell us what most of us want to hear next time.
