    Satellite Destroyed

    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,331642,00.html

I think this is very cool stuff. Most people, bleh, big deal. It is incredibly hard to hit an orbiting satellite like this. It has no heat source to lock onto and it is very far away. The cool thing is the missile that did it is designed to take down other missiles, a really hard thing to do. I can only imagine the technology that goes into that. These aren't things you can build in your garage with screwdrivers and a pair of vicegrips, lol.

I know you believe you understand what you think I said. But I am not sure you realise that what you heard is not what I meant.

What made me really laugh when I heard about it was that they recalled the space shuttle early. Getting them mixed up with a defunct satellite would have been the most embarassing friendly fire episode in all history. It's almost a shame it didn't happen.

Almost as funny would have been if the missile had simply missed. I was really pulling for that one.

Or they shot the satellite down... onto Disneyworld.

But no.... sooooo boring. the only fun thing about it all are the accusations coming from Russia and China re missile shields, space weapons, etc.

When China shot down one of their defunct 'weather' satellites the whole world basically jumped on them and started using the 'get-your-attention' political phrases like 'condemning such an action', 'greatly concerned' and etc. Especially from the USA. So its no suprise for Russia and China, two countries who view themselves as 'superpowers' to be critical to whatever US action, especially in military affairs (eg. Polish Missile Defense Shield) or to other political issues (eg. Carbon Emissions agreement for the Kyoto Protocol).

What makes the USA such a 'benevolent' superpower is their constant change in leadership. Consider this. Imagine this new ability being upgraded to another kind of superweapon. We would continue to say things to the USA such as 'condemning such inhumane weapons' but still we will feel safer. I believe the USA has enough morals and political will to do what is necessary, but never at the expense of human rights. Cause if they were to be revealed, their asses would be for the public to kick out of office. The USA still fuels China's and most of the world's economy. What happens if the USA decided to become isolationist, goodbye world. Who do we turn to. Europe? Asia? Africa? The Middle East? (Thats why if I could vote, I would vote Republicans.)

Such a weapon will always cause a protest from other nations, but the security and expertise of the USA really is established and I wont be too worried. So they can shoot down missiles, I think its a brilliant defensive weapon. To use it offensively would be possible but limited to cutting off hostile intelligence, which are never really accurate anyway and the existence of other cost-saving measures (eg. Hacking!).

So people make noise, but wouldn't you rather the USA having the same capabilities as China, then knowing China might have a trump card over the world's only hyperpower? Would you rather know that if any ICBMs (lets say N.Korea and Iran suddenly found a mad nuclear scientist or China got mad at the world) were to be launched, we got some semblance of a defense against it? I would. Small countires like Singapore, depend on the abilites of bigger countries who have a good track record of morality and upholding human rights (oh that makes the USA the only candidate.) to protect them in dire need.

    Guatemala, of course.

The world is still plagued with tyrants and dictators, and yea, I think we are the glue that holds it together to a large extent. We're not perfect, but come on, we could dominate so many countries if we wanted to. But we don't, instead we prevent other assholes from doing just that. Maybe a bit pretentious, but the U.S. plays a vital role in preserving world order in the 21st century.

    Glue that holds it together?

    Vital role?

    Don't dominate other countries?

This is the most laughably naive post I've ever read in my life.

And this is the most laughably lame rebuttal I've ever seen in my life.
