Oh well, I expect that Utah was better than almost anyone expected. More fuel for the playoff fire! Now, Florida had best bring home the title to the SEC.
South Carolina loosing was not a disappointment. It's nice to see Spurrier put back in his place.

And as for Alabama....I'm watching the tide roll on out Yay for them loosing!

I was actually planning to root against Florida (the idea of them having 2 titles in 3 years is just too painful).

But now I want them to win, as that helps create more of a BCS crisis (since Utah beat Alabama a lot worse than Florida did).

Wow. Great idea Sooners.... give Florida tons of bulletin board material.

CB Franks: Sooners will corral Tebow, Gators

Oklahoma sophomore cornerback Dominique Franks said during interviews with the media Sunday morning at the Harbor Beach Marriott Resort & Spa that Tebow would have been no better than the fourth-best quarterback in the Big 12 this season.

"If you look at the three best quarterbacks in the country, they came from the Big 12," said Franks, referring to Oklahoma's Sam Bradford, Texas' Colt McCoy and Texas Tech's Graham Harrell.
ROFL. Yeah, Harrell did great against Ole Miss.

"Going into a game and knowing a quarterback's going to throw the ball 40 times a game versus coming into a game and knowing he's probably only going to throw it about 15 or 20. ... It makes it a lot harder to prepare for those [Big 12] guys," Franks said.
Um.... really? It is easier to prepare for a defense that balances between run and pass than a team that passes almost constantly? Since when?

"This week is no different than the Big 12 championship or UT-Chattanooga. I believe that whole-heartedly. There's a process you have to invest in. And if you do, usually good things will happen."
The National Championship game is no different than any other week? I hope he is really treating it that way.

Originally, I had hoped Okl would win. The idea of a 4th major title for Florida in 3 years bugged me (2 football, 2 basketball).

But after Utah's win, I want Florida to win, so Utah has an even more legitimate claim to be the national champ.

Then I read crap like this, and now I want Florida to just cream Oklahoma.

Yeah, I like the sooners, but statements like that are just dumb and usually backfire. Stoops usually has better control of his players, kinda surprising.

Maybe Stoops is distracted by all the open head coaching positions in the NFL.

I'm still kinda torn on the whole issue. Oklahoma is a Big-12 school I have no issues with. Stoops doesn't do crass, coach's poll shenanigans like Mack Brown. He doesn't do sleazy things like Urban Meyer. He does run the score up on people, but it is hard to blame him with the way college football operates right now. Stoops runs a clean, classy program as far as I know, and that isn't easy to do in big time college football.

As I noted, by itself, I'd rather Oklahoma win the title than Florida.

The only thing that makes me lean the other way is the Utah issue, and the possibility of a ginormous black eye for the BCS.

Too bad a tie is impossible, because then that would be something to seriously root for.

No matter who wins, I hope it is a close game. That makes it more entertaining to watch, and helps Utah either way.

Seriously, if this year doesn't give overwhelming evidence that a playoff is necessary, then I don't know what will. Alabama beat almost everyone this year, struggled with a few (admittedly) but pulled out the win, finally lost to a powerhouse in Florida (who dominated all but two teams) after giving them a tough game, and then lost to an undefeated overwhelming underdog from a mini-conference in the first quarter! The first quarter is OUR quarter, yet we got beat before we even had a chance to breathe.

My point: how do we know Utah ISN'T the best team in the nation? Florida is a monster. Ole Miss beat them. Bama almost beat them. Bama beat Ole Miss. Ole Miss beat Texas Tech. Texas Tech beat Texas. Texas beat Oklahoma. USC beat everyone but Oregon State. Utah beat Oregon State and Alabama decisively. What's the best argument against Utah? They're in a small conference?? It looks like everyone is beating everyone with no clear best team. Except maybe Utah, but they don't count, right?

Everyone trolled on about Florida's speed, but they failed to dust Alabama. In my opinion, Utah is faster than Florida. I honestly don't know how Utah got past our line repeatedly and at will. But again, because they aren't in a politically relevant conference, they won't be considered for the big title. I have a problem with that.

I haven't checked the blogs on espn.com yet, but I'm sure many will agree with me.

BTW, Bama haters: this wasn't even supposed to be our year. We weren't supposed to be that good yet. Boy, the next few years are REALLY gonna suck, huh?

    The wait is over.

Sources: Stafford, Moreno to leave Georgia for draft

    The weird thing?

    I'm not that bummed.

I should be. I really should be. When players have left early in the past, I've often been really bummed.

But I think the last 3 years have all been more and more disappointing each season. I don't blame these guys, but some part of me is looking forward to a new era. Maybe less raw talent but more leadership. I don't know. Maybe more of both. Sometimes was never right with the UGA teams the last three years. I hope that will change.

Believe it or not, with all this Wikipedia crap, I have barely had any time to keep up with Stafford and Moreno going pro. I read some recaps, and most of the things they said were fine. But this annoyed me:

On whether failing to win an SEC title made leaving difficult:

"It might have been a little bit of a consideration, but I don't think it's going to stick with me."
Huh? Failure doesn't stick with you? 3 years in a row, and no titles of any kind? Not SEC East. Not SEC. Not MNC. Nothing.

For the last three years, something hasn't been quite right with the UGA teams. I think we had two super stars who kinda hogged all the limelight, possibly didn't mesh well talent-wise (Stafford always wants to throw long, Moreno would like some more dump offs to use his insane ability in space), and perhaps they ALWAYS had too much of an eye to the NFL. Apparently Stafford had already decided before the bowl game. Well, why the lies about being 50-50 then? Just say "I haven't decided yet" or "I'm still talking to people."

Joe Cox is going to be a 5th year senior at QB next year, and he actually has some playing experience. He's done well when he played. He rallied us to a win against Colorado 2 years ago. He scored our only TD against Florida this year. And history (especially in the SEC) shows that 5 year QBs often do very, very well.

We are loaded at RB, so while I doubt we will have Moreno like talent there, I wouldn't be surprised by another 1,000 yard rusher (or at least 1,000+ easy from a tandem).

Rick Reilly: No question, Utah is the national champion

Die, BCS! Seriously, good points made here. I'm all for the underdog (except when they play my fucking team!). I believe anyone who can beat a good Alabama team deserves some serious kudos. And I don't mean #2 after running the table. IMHO, Utah was VERY impressive! But then again, I'm not a coach. I'm not a sports writer. And I'm not a president of a major university. So I don't know too much about sports. So of course, my humble opinion that Utah should play Florida for the title matters none.
