    Views on War

What are your views on war? Is there ever justification for it?

Feel free to post and explain your views more in depth.

Yes but the question is what constitutes "Defense of ones Country"?

I personally am much like Lly, I won't start a fight, but I'll darn sure finish it.

What constitutes an attack on your country?

What constitutes an attack on your country?
A very good question, and one certainly open to debate. Any thoughts?

To me, an act (Usually conducted by an organized group or country) of violence with a specific goal of destroying or disabling my country is something I constitue as an attack.

Although, by the way Lly, if you are referring to the questionnaire then let me clarify what I meant. By 'invasion' I particularly mean the entrace of an opposing army that has the intention of destroying or conquering.

IMO (and this is coming from a relatively peaceful guy), history has aptly demonstrated that war is justified in certain situations. Such as when it can avert or stop a worse disaster.

I picked "There is justification for war in certain situations"
I thought about it and if we only went to war when people attacked our country then Hitler would have most likely killed every Jew in Germany by now, moved on to Italy, etc. There are some situations, I think, when you have to go to war to prevent more death, etc.

    I invoke Godwin's Law!!!!!!!!!
Capitalization is the difference between "I had to help my Uncle Jack off a horse." and "I had to help my uncle jack off a horse."

This quote sums up my feelings on war.

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse.

Shoot...I accidentally voted for war being the answer to all the problems when I really meant to vote for it being right under certain justifications

    A very true point.

however, better apply the option and you have the fact that:

If every country in the world only went to war when they were invaded ... Germany would never have gone to war in the first place.

Personally, I went for only doing it when you are invaded, however I think of that more as you or your allies. As in, if England is attacked, the USA would considering it an attack on themselves and promptly aid in the rebuttle (no doubt by launching an overnight assault of about a gazillion missiles into the attackers capital city).
