Ok, with the NBA starting in October now, this means there are only 3 months of the year without NBA basketball.

NBA is now played Jan -> Jun and then Oct-> Dec. That is 9 out of 12 months.

Last year ended June 14 and was a 4 game sweep. I imagine it is possible for the playoffs to stretch into July if there are enough 7 game series (with all their retarded extra days off even when there is no travel).

There are a lot of things wrong with the NBA right now, but this has to be a major issue. It really kills interest in a sport when it drags on too long. It just adds to the feeling that individual games don't matter. By the end of the season, it leaves a lot of potential fans simply giving up thinking "my god, isn't this thing over yet?"

Nov to April/May would be far more appropriate than Oct to June.
