May have to reinstall your sound driver. Do you have a sound card or is it integrated in the motherboard? Ah, nevermind. Rosuav is better for this stuff.

I have a laptop, so all of my stuff is intigrated I believe. I went to try to find a download for the driver but my computer is saying I don't even have a device when I tried to look up what kind of driver I need.

First port of call would be the Add New Hardware wizard.

I had this problem also Rijiny when I formatted my laptop. What I did was go to the manufacturers website of the laptop and check what the specs of the computer were, then I went on a search for the actual driver. It took me ages, so now I have the driver on a disc, so I never have to go through all that again

from what I can tell based upon my digging thus far is that the sound driver that went with my audio stuff was only compadible with Vista so its not reading the device at all
