    Webhosting

    Hi

I am currently hosting with OURINTERNET.US and for over a year they have been brilliant. They allow me

    -unlimted domain hosting and subdomains
    -mssql and mysql databases
    - all program,ming languages including Coldfusion 7
    - lots of space and traffic

However over the last 2 weeks their MYSQL server has crashed 6 times, and they refuse point blank to tell me why or even ifthe problesm are going to ease. I however host 3 live cubecart stores amongst other things and my clients are getting pissed off and as I LIVE with one of them (and she can be quite loud) I need to get this sorted.. so its time to move

I am looking for a RELIABLE host, and one who will communicate with me when I ask technical questions that NEED an answer and not avoid it.

    I need at a minimum

-the ability to host more than one domain and subdomains
    - MYSQL and preferably at least 3 MSSQL 2000 databases
    - Coldfusion 6 (pref 7) and PHP
    - Mailhosting with full admin for each of the domains and RELIABLE mail

I pay about £30 ($57) per month at the moment, and host about 4gb of files in total but this WILL grow

If anyone has a recommendation, one they use would be good.. as opposed to those from a simple google search.. I can do that =)

    Thanks

I use Network Solutions and have gotten very good service from them:

    http://www.networksolutions.com/web-hosting/

You would want the "Pro" at $29/month.

As far as what you mentioned -- it includes one domain, with each additional one at $12.

Also you have to choose between Windows or Unix, and Unix includes MySQL but not MSSQL; Windows -- vice versa.

Also Windows doesn't seem to include PHP, but it does include Cold Fusion; again, Unix -- vice versa.

The company I work for uses 1and1: http://www.1and1.com . They seem to be pretty good (and cheap) but I don't have all the lowdown on their details.

1and1 - ok, but has server latency problems at times.

godaddy - virtual servers are ok have good uptime, bottom end around what you're paying now

    netsol - I don't like

rackspace - way expensive for dedicated - but amazingly fanatical technical support. If you grow to where you need dedicated, they're worth looking at.

For what you're doing, I'd seriously look at godaddy with cpanel/whm. And Id buy it through my affiliate link - domainunit.com

    And yes - go unix/apache, NOT windows/iis

    Finally

GODADDY is number one choice right now but due to their limitations I will need both UNIX and WINDOWS hosting.SOZO a close second. SOZO however have no testemonials, but their sales people were refreshing honest about problems they have had and fix times. NOt only that but I would only need one package with them but it comes in at $49 per month ($30 for godaddy with both premium packages)

I finally cracked last night after being told my sites were up and they were monitoring... when they were down and I had to mail them again to get any kind of action.. so eventually I emailed a ranting complaint about terrible servive, rewards for loyalty (sarcastic of course), rude igorance, which ended with

'.. sorry for this terse email, but I dont apprciate being told to have a nice day when you have not fixed my problem and are completely ignoring my requests for an explantion after 16 times of asking'

I got a response back within 10 mins which was so wonderfully 'American' (dont forget I am a nasty, unfriendly British type.. we dont greet people, we grunt). It began

"ITS OK TO YELL!!!!!! I AM YELLING TOO!!!!!"

    gah!

Apparently their MSSQL server was being flooded by requests from 2 ip addresses which they have now blocked. I have recevied lots of free hosting as an appology, so I will give them 1 week and if there is one single problem, move.. and ok Khalid, if I go with GODADDY, I will use your site.
