    Premiership Football Thread

The season just started and Man City has seen their last minute spending pay off quickly.

Specifically Bianchi who cost 8M pounds just to buy his contract and scored the first goal of the season for the Citizens.

Any other fans of the Premiership here? If so, who do you support?

I'm a huge fan of Arsenal (though I have to admit I haven't been to a game in ten years now...). This season is a real test for Arsenal after Henry left to Barca - Robin Van Persie and Cesc Fabregas will have to take the handles and show if they are true class players.

However, this season is going to be very difficult for me as Yossi Benayoun signed for Liverpool and Tal Ben Haim signed for Chelsea (they are the biggest stars of our national team), so I'll cross my fingers for them as well. On another note, Ben Sahar has been loaned to QPR for a little first team gain and is due to return to Chelsea's senior team in January when the African Nations begin.

    Let's hope it'll be a good season!

Recently I've been a fan of Man U, which is probably sacrilidge to some people, since the other team I've watched whenever possibly since I was about 8 is Liverpool. Really I'm just a fan of all good soccer, I'll watch anything they put on TV... can't wait to get done with school so I can get one of the crazy soccer channels, it'll be nice. Does the Premiership have a site where you can stream games live or watch them online with a pass like UEFA did?

I'm not entirely sure, but you might want to check the Official Site of the Premier League and maybe they broadcast the games there play-by-play.

It's for streaming of games, with all the programs you would ever need.
Site never failed me, and is a great addition where you have nothing else.

Though I was hesitating to actually help you out with this one Bael.... you be watching the scums are you?

And so far, the season has been brilliant from my perspective, just wish that chelski would actually get their losses, and not get of with points the ****** don't deserve.

I dunno if anybody has been watching recently, but Micah Richards is kicking ass. I have been a Manchester City fan for seven odd years now and so glad that things look to be turning around.

Arsenal will win this year. Its gonna be Arsenal then Liverpool in second. But still its too early in the season to be really sure.

New players in the BPL that are doing really well are Torres, Bianchi, Petrov, Elano (see how they are mostly Man City Players. haha). Man Utd are struggling to find that form they had last season, and the talents of both Nani and Ronaldo is still takin a little time to happen. Tevez looks good and with Rooney's return, who knows? But the fact that we got them with a Geovanni goal (who had also scored against them when he was at Benfica, kicking them out of the Champions League) made my season already. Hopefully the return fixture at Old Trafford will be even more exciting.

I wonder, any Tottemham Spurs fans around?

Anyway, the Rugby World Cup is on, and im currently very distracted by that since Rugby is my first love. Football just got to wait.

    cheers

Yeah, in the game against my country in Wembley he really kicked ass. He's already a top-class defender, but I'm quite certain that in a couple of years he'll be a world-class defender. He has the strength, the pace and the technique to be the best.

From your mouth to god (or should it be from your hands to god? nevermind). As I wrote here before the season began, this year is a test for Robin and Cesc, and so far they are taking the handles very good. I honestly think Henry's departure was a good thing for Arsenal since for so many years they used to rely on just one player, and that fact really hurt them when he didn't play.

Man Utd's main problem is that they don't have a good striker. You see, Tevez and Rooney are fine forwards, but they can't with their backs to the goal and their off-the-ball skills are mediocre. Though I never liked Van Nistelrooy much, I think that's just the type of player they need, and Saha simply isn't good enough.

As for the other signings you mentioned, I do hope they'll put on good displays. I've seen Elano play for a couple of seasons now in Shakhtar Donetsk and he's certainly one of the most promosing midfielders to rise from Brazil in recent year. Torres has already established himself as one of the best strikers in the world, and as for Petrov and Bianchi - they are good players, but not young enough to ever become great.

I wonder, any Tottemham Spurs fans around?
    I hope not!

The two Israelis, Bel Haim and Benayoun really are making a it a selection headache for their managers. But I think Bel Haim seems to fit Terry better then Alex.

And did you guys watch Arsenal kick Tottenham's ass? Adebayour was world-class. And Fabregas and Van Persie are doing well without Henry, who is currently struggling in Barca.

Adebayour's goal (although it was in garbage time) was one of the most fantastic goals I've seen in recent years. I was watching my TV with awe for more than a few minutes after the goal.
