The ruling revived a suit by four men who said they paid $20 cover charges at the Century Supper Club on several occasions in 2002 and saw women admitted for $15 or for free. The club denied discriminating and said it charged men and women equally.

Lower courts had dismissed the suit because the men never asked to be admitted for the same price as women. They can now seek damages of $4,000 for each violation of the Unruh Act.

oh hell yes! a few years ago when i went clubbing often, shit like this happened all the time, I'd always joked that one day I'd bring a lawsuit...

You guys don't get it. Ladies night is so the chicks flock to the club and there's more girls than there are guys. More partners to dance. More chances to score. Down here in Texas they sometimes do bikini or short-shorts night for the ladies. Any female wearing said attire gets in free. The guys don't complain because the club is packed with broads in next to nothing.

It's a trick for men, not against them.

I get it just fine, you must have missed the part where I said I was joking.

This particular issue isn't really something that I disagree with, though there is one similar form of discrimination that really pisses me off, and that is when clubs only allow men who are 21+ but allow ladies in who are 18+. Pick one or the other, you can't have it both ways. The issue hasn't come up since I turned 21 a couple years ago, but it still irks me when I hear about places doing this.
