Ah. Comes to the same thing as my rereading did Point stands.

Damn, what a great idea. Lead boots around their feet over the Marianas trench. Let them stare at the water for 10 minutes, proclaim them no longer a part of the human race, and let'em go.

Personally I'm not willing to make that sacrifice to accomplish something negligible.
I myself am quite willing to live with that reality. I may sing a different tune when I'm being tried for a crime I did not commit, but here and now I can live with that. I would rather a few innocent people die so that many pay for their crimes, rather than those many never getting the punishment they so desperately deserve. Evil dominates this planet. You can quote friendly neighbors and good will all you want, but suffering and corruption rule the human race.

What exactly is so different between killing them and letting them rot inside prison with ZERO hope of parole? Personally I would rather die, myself (assuming I knew I was guilty of whatever and there was no hope of getting out). I can't imagine the pain of watching my family grow up through letters, photographs, and thick glass. I'd rather them bury me and move on than cling to the father and husband they'll never touch again.

That and prison is a shit hole. ESPECIALLY for child molesters. They are the absolute bottom rung of the shit barrel on the inside and life there is no pretty picnic.

So why trade a few innocent lives just to off these guys? Is it really all that worth it?

    so you don't subscribe to...

"it's better to let a hundred guilty men go free than to send one innocent man to jail." ...

the court system is far from perfect, but it is the best thing we have. But I have seen injustice in the court system first hand.

For the record I don't subscribe to that philosophy. It's cheap and harms society. However, with a bit of modification, we can come up with something that applies here.

"It's better to let a hundred guilty child molesters live rotting in prison for the rest of their lives than to send one innocent man his death just so you can kill the shitbags."

Xaxer, please say who you're quoting! The "quote" link does this for you automatically, and it does make it easier to figure out the thread of the conversation.

I don't believe that a hundred guilty men should go free rather than one innocent be imprisoned. I would, however, accept that five maybe-guilty men should go free rather than one probably-innocent man should go to prison.
