    IE & Picture formats

    I need some help. I am completely aggrevated with this...

    Everytime I try to save a picture from IE the only option it gives me for file format is bitmap. It's driving me crazy. I have to save everything as a bitmap and open it in Paint so I can convert it to a jpg format. Why won't it let me save pictures as jpg's?????

    Someone help PLEASE!!!

    Right Click the image -> Save Picture As... -> Save as type

    See if you can change that to jpg.

    Right-click the image, choose "View image" or whatever IE calls it (I don't have an IE to test this in). That should give you a page with just the image and nothing else.

    Is the original image a bitmap? If it is, that's why it won't save as a JPEG. Your best bet would be to take the image and then convert it afterwards. (The window title should tell you what format image is - it'll say "image/jpg" or something - even if the filename doesn't.)

    From that page, you should be able to use File, Save As - that'll give you a copy as-is.

    That's exactly my problem. It only gives me the choice of .bmp.

    No view image I'm afraid. All there is is save picture, print picture, email picture etc.

    Original picture is a jpg. (Checked that already even by checking properties. It's a jpg.)

    Well, that's subjective innit? Sounds like a right proper fix to me! But if you insist on using Internet Explorer...

    I assume you are using 6.0?

    The first, and hopefully correct, resolution I have to that is that your Temporary Internet Files may be full and disallowing the save in anything other than a .BMP

    Don't ask me why this behaviour happens, it just does. I don't program Microsoft programs, and couldn't tell you the thought process behind that.

    Delete all your temporary internet files and try again.

    Tools->Internet Options->General->Delete Files

    If that hasn't worked in correcting your problem then look for this option:

    Tools->Internet Options->Advanced

    Scroll down under the "Security" subheading and clear the check next to "Do not save encrypted pages to disk"

    If that still hasn't work then you might have been fragged by a damaged activex or java program fopping into your directory.

    Make sure all of the temporary internet files are cleared, as above. Then remove these programs as needed.

    Tools->Internet Options->General

    Under the Temporary Internet Files heading, click settings.

    Click View Objects... Look for items listed as "Unknown" or "Damaged" and remove them. If you still continue to get the problem try removing the rest of the files.

    Tell me how those work.

    Workaround provided on Citizen channel.

    Isaviel has some kind of weird setup, it seems to be something of a mess. It may require a reinstall, I don't know. (Hope not.)

    IE sucks ass for pictures. Those bitmap pics are huge too. IE pictures always come in with shitty quality (I know all about the auto cropping whatever thing in the whatever options tab- it does nothing).

    Use mozilla Isa it works very good. Whenever you get a picture you wish to save download it in the firefox browser and it can be saved as an optimum quality .jpg pic.
