What if the solution was as simple as allowing people entering a period of mandatory military service their choice of job placement, provided they show adequate aptitude on the standardized entrance test?I'd not be too happy about being drafted as a footsoldier, but if I were offered a job writing software to back-end military projects, I'd be far more likely to accept - and not just to serve some mandatory two years or whatever it is, but to make it my career, stay on until retirement.
