Most people awarded the medal of honor are usually dead. Why that's unfortunate is because if you have one other service members must salute you. If this applies to officers I'm not sure, but I noticed officers seem to get it more. Could be wrong.
It usually takes something of that magnitude- like jumping on a grenade- to get that medal. I'm happy with my good conduct medal, lol. The only medals that I respect are the ones you get for bravery or heroism, like a bronze star or silver. Lots of guys get medals just for doing their jobs. Officers get the good ones because they're in charge of more shit. It's all a matter of running the paper work through.
