I'd be testing the CD elsewhere, in case it's damaged or not working.

I pressed the Ctrl key, but I'm still not in control!
I would double check the BIOS and make sure that it saved your settings. With my old BIOS you actually had to tell it to save in two separate screens (once on the actual boot order screen and then again in the root menu before exiting) before it would save the settings.
