If they had wanted to live somewhere else, and had told the church that, they probably would have been helped to move there, etc. I think the problem lies in the fact that the church thought it was helping a person into their town, but instead the people go "Actually, we don't like it here". Its like someone giving you a fairy cake, and then you riding around town telling everyone how much they suck. Its just not polite!
