    This is scary

Gah! Help me, I need to either clear this information out of my stupid cache, or be at ease with it being there. The problem is autocompletion and my credit card number. I went to place an order and the stupid Web browser remembered my stupid credit card from the last time I ordered! Is the encryption on this autocomplete stuff solid enough that no one can get it? Essentially, my credit card info is on my hard drive. Is it one-way encrypted, or should I be worried? See the screen shot I've taken for more info.

I know the chances of being "hacked" are extremely slim, but I don't want to give any person a REASON to want into my machine. I also don't want to have to clear the entire autocompletion cache to get rid of this data! I really like having more than two years of post subjects, comic titles, and google searches saved and stored away. I just don't want my credit card number in there!

You can remove it. I don't know if you can be selective about it, but you can certainly wipe out all saved form data. Tools, Options, Privacy, Saved Forms - there's a button "Clear Saved &Form Data Now". As to encryption - by definition it cannot be one-way encrypted, as Ff has to be able to retrieve it for you. Do you have a master password? If not, it's probably quite decryptable (though I don't think it's stored in clear text).

However, someone would have to gain access to your computer before they can get saved form information. And if they do, there's more than credit cards at risk. So - definitely protect yourself at that level, but it wouldn't hurt to not have your CC details stored anyway.

If you use Firefox, there's an extremely simple way to do this. Go to: TOOLS -> CLEAR PRIVATE DATA from there, check off the ones you want to clear. The one that you're looking for specifically in this instance, would be the SAVED FORM INFORMATION. Once you've got that checked off, and anything else you want, click on the CLEAR PRIVATE DATA NOW option.

If you don't want to continue to do this every time, that's doable also. Go to: TOOLS -> OPTIONS -> SAVED FORMS(it's a tab). Deselect the option there, and hit ok.

There's a couple of other options you can use(such as setting Firefox up to clear private data/forms information each time you close the program), but I think what's been provided above is what you're looking for.

It just means that Vidare has a policy of not clicking links that he sees in forums posts. It's probably a good idea, because you don't always know where you'll end up if you click on everything that happens to be a link.

Yes, it was obviously a risky move considering the risqué topic at hand.

I don't know if you are being sarcastic, but "This is scary" is definitely a subject title that makes me wary of clicking the links.

My internal warning system says "Remember Tub Girl! Remember Tub Girl! DO NOT CLICK!"
Capitalization is the difference between "I had to help my Uncle Jack off a horse." and "I had to help my uncle jack off a horse."

True. Even if you hover the link and it says ".JPG", there's nothing to stop a web host from putting "Content-type: text/html" and then embedding an ActiveX control or something and having fun with you. The only protection is trusting that when Anthson says "screen shot", he means "static image that can't do anything". I guess I'm gullible enough to believe him.
