My friend has a copy of the koran. If I look up the verses from that site in his book, are they going to be in there? If they're in there you're gonna lose credibility. Those are not ambiguous statements.

Go ahead. I am very sure you will find it. It should be there. My translation should not be too far from it. Arabic is a weird language to translate. I know so much on the subject because I am a born Muslim. I have been attending religious classes since 5 and will be doing a module on Islamic History soon.

I am quite fluent in Arabic and the translations I used were from my own Quran which was translated by Yusuf Ali. It has both Arabic text next to the translated verses. I can talk to you more about Muslims and the Islamic world if you like.

I am not saying every Muslim in the world is perfect. We are also human. Misintepretations happen all the time in all religions. We must just be sure not to be led in the wrong direction by them.

www.freemuslims.org is an American based site for people willing to learn more about Islam. I do not trust online translations of the Quran as they tend to be biased, like the source you provided. Research on the Syariah Laws and you will find women rights to be quite extensive.

The Quran, in itself, teaches us to cherish both our friends or enemies. However, bad translations like the ones Savaric posted only helps the extremists from both sides (don't forget that today people are learning most things from the internet and in my opinion, those sites which mis-interpret are very harmful).

On the other hand, it is clear and beyond any doubt that most terrorism today is done by fundamental Islamists (I'm not going to say there is no Jewish/Christian terrorism, because there is, but much much less).

In the past few years, I've been trying to understand the motives of Islamic terrorism and I believe it to derive from two main things:

    1) Money - most terrorism, especially the Palestinian terrorism is to receive money.

    2) Wrong interpretations of the Quran - this is the fault of the Sheikhs and Dawa teachers for simply telling lies to young peple, promising them virgins and money for their families and literally driving them to commit suicide.
I was trying to push this points to. I and a majority of the Muslim community here do not agree with how much violence is used in trying to solve problems in the Middle East. Not only by the Jews, but especially the suicide bombers.

Savaric, research further and you will find that a lot of what the 'fundamentals' are doing or 'teachers' teach are actually against the laws of Islam.
