I'm addicted to water. If I try going all day without it, I get symptoms like thirst, a strong desire to drink some water, and a feeling that I'll die if I don't have some.

We need a water detox clinic.

I have a lot of strong opinions about things like this for various reasons, but I'll keep this brief.

I feel the same way towards this as I do towards all of the Insertcraphere Anonymous that has sprung up around Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.

There are many differences between physical addiction to a foreign substance in the system, and emotional dependance on certain habits like gaming/tv watching/eating/sex/whatever. However harmful any of those may be if done to excess.

Which isn't to say that I don't think that the many FREE programs like Anything Anonymous shouldn't exist so that people can free themselves from their particular anything without having to pay goodness knows how much for the fancy places in this article. But I sure hope that whatever new "addictions" trends are going to pop up in the future don't make it so that more people die from the more life-threatening ones that have existed in the past.

Or demonize habits that when not taken to excess can be perfectly healthy. Like you know, gaming/tv watching/eating/sex/whatever. Though not all at the same time.
