    Ricky Williams in the CFL

Williams headed to CFL, signs with Argonauts

    and

Williams 'looked good' during first CFL practice

I think it is really interesting that he chose to go this route. I think it shows he really wants to play football. He very easily could have just taken the year off and said "I plan to train hard." Yeah right.

I think it was a smart move by the Dolphins to let him play. Yeah, he might get hurt. But if you don't let him play, what are the odds he will be worth a damn for your team? If he gets hurt, you can just cut him anyway since contracts are not guaranteed in the NFL.

If he is serious about this, I think he could potentially be an absolutely devastating force in the CFL. In fact, I hope he is.

I agree, I think it's a win/win situation for both sides. Ricky was so rusty when he came back last year that he wasn't worth a damn to the Dolphins until about half way through the season. This gives him a chance to stay in football shape, earn some money and be ready to come back the following year to help Miami (if he can finally leave the herbs alone).

I thought this was really interesting. When I first heard about it, it was at the tail-end of the news portion on the radio, I thought they had to be talking about some other Ricky Williams. But when I got home and checked on the TSN(canadian equivalent of ESPN) website, sure enough it was Ricky Williams, of the Miami Dolphins.

I seriously hope that this is the chance he needs to get back on track. They're going to continue testing him for drugs using the NFL standard, in addition to testing him 10 times a month.

I think it will be interesting to see how much interest he generates in the Toronto Argonauts.

I would definitely watch to check out how he was doing and how they managed to work him into the offense with only 3 downs.

Another ex-NFL running back in the CFL is Robert Edwards and he had a pretty damn good year in 05..

I think Ricky just wanted to take advantage of Canada's laxer marijuana laws.

What I wonder about is if Ricky will come out of the CFL. Presumably he'll take the year to play in Canada and then return to the NFL, but he'd just be one drug test away from heading back north of the boarder. Maybe he should just stay there where he should be dominant even if he decides to play high.

Of course he had a damn good year. He's a Georgia Bulldog.

I hope he makes it back to the NFL. He was an excellent NFL RB, but blew out his knee playing beach volleyball in Hawaii when he was at his first Pro Bowl .

He also rocked at UGA, where he led us to a huge victory over Florida when we had lost to them like 7 years in a row.

I was at the game where he set a UGA record with 5 rushing TDs in a single game against South Carolina.

Wow, I went to that link and read this:

Edwards became the first Alouette to rush for 1,000 yards since 2002... Both Robert and his brother Terrence scored a touchdown on Sept.2, a first in team history.
Terrence Edwards was an excellent WR for Georgia, who was grossly underappreciated. He was blamed for a loss to Florida because he dropped a pass on 4th down that would have either resulted in a TD or close to a TD (and a win). I always felt that was a lameass thing because it was a damn tough catch, and the only reason we were in such a bad situation at the end was because of horrible play by tons of other players through the rest of the game.
