That's a little disingenuous, since he's currently #26 in ALL TIME TOTAL YARDS, which has to be one of the most important offensive stats. He is also still #28 in rushing yards, and #33 in rushing TDs, and he was much higher when he retired.

When he retired, he was in the top 10 or top 15 in total yards, and in the top 15 or 20 in many other categories - and you really have to judge someone by their career at the time they had that career.

He had 8 seasons of 1000+ total yards, and had one season of 2000+ total yards.

He also returned punts and kickoffs, but I can't find those stats.

Like I said, he's on the cusp. If he never gets in, he hasn't been robbed. Not a lock, but I think he deserves to be there because he's tons better than a lot of folks in there, and a lot of folks that people consider a lock nowadays (like Jerome Bettis).

If you include his USFL stats (which I think should be concluded, since USFL was an American football league, it had top notch talent) he is a lock. There is precedent because I am almost certain that in the past, when evaluating players for the Hall, they included AFL stats before the AFL merged with the NFL.
