    lawsuits- the gold digger's lottery

I saw this a few weeks ago and thought it was funny. I saw it today and thought it was not so funny: http://www.cnn.com/2006/LAW/04/29/sp....ap/index.html

"Jurors awarded Orlando $10,000 for economic loss, $40,000 for future medical costs and $450,000 for emotional distress, pain and suffering."

Okay, okay- I can swallow that.

"They awarded her an additional $1.2 million in punitive damages."

Maybe if she was raped in front of the sales staff I could vouch for that. Well apparently she sued her previous employer as well for something similar. She looks like your classic man-hating spinster. "I hate men because they have no interest in me!"

Anyway, if you happen to feel she deserves it ask yourself this - did they put a gun to her head and force her to do it?

True. Though i've always been given the option to do whatever I wished at work with this statement: You can do whatever you want... on your last day.

Now, personally, I think the amount she was awarded was insane for this and probably should have stayed at the 450k, 40k, 10k.

considering the fact that she claims to have been sexually harassed at a previous job, you'd think her own early warning system would've kicked in when this ridiculous team building exercise came up.
the verdict is excessive, ridiculous, and she doesn't deserve that much!!

Given she could have and should have refused to take part, and not only participated, but continued working there, the jury was right to through out the sexual assualt part, but the award does seem a bit excessive. Having said that, it is completely inappropriate to label women who find such workplace behavior traumatic as "your classic man-hating spinster."

I was basing that on her looks. She also looks like she owns about fifty cats.
