    Linux Distribution Chooser

I thought this was a pretty interesting little link. It hits you with a series of questions, and then determines which Linux distribution it thinks is best for you. I went through and it came up with my distrubution of choice (Gentoo) as the top recommendation. So at least there's a little bit of validation :P.

It said I should try SuSe or Mandriva. It said Fedora was not for me because it didn't support the desktop environment I favour (kde).

I actually just installed a Fedora box last week. I set it up to be a web/ssh server so it runs with no gui.

I don't suggest Fedora for better reasons than the DE.

Bah, I like Fedora. BTW, it recommended Fedora for me too.

Such as? I don't doubt you have a good answer but as someone not very familiar with a lot of distributions I'd like to hear your thoughts.

For me, as someone who works with this stuff, we deal with rhel and suse. I go with fedora for being close to rhel.

I don't like having to hack my distro just to get MPEG support (any layer).

    that's a pretty good reason.

if i were using it for that kind of stuff i would probably find a different distro.

my main system unfortunately is a windows system because i have a couple games that are windows only.

other than that, i'd be completely microsoft free.
