If he was upfront about it (which it seems like he was), then its all good, a team could take that into account and his inflexibility would lower his trade value. If the team took him and knew about his feelings, then they were gambling and when you gamble you can get burned. We'll see where the showdown leads I guess, its not going to do him any favors if he walks though.

I don't know exactly what the no trade contract rules are, but I think you might have to be in the league for a certain period of time, 5 or 7 years, and he probably didn't qualify.
