Owens charged with rape

Sexual assaults are a problem on every college campus. Young people with lots of freedom combined with lots of booze and partying leads to these sorts of problems. The environment puts all college students in a potentially dangerous situation if they choose to live the stereotypical college lifestyle (especially the stereotype for college atheletes).

The Air Force Academy went through their round of scandal over this problem, and the Navy could be next. Since the American public is paying for the Cadets to go to school I think they have a right to hold Cadets to a higher standard than other college students. Some colleges encourage students to use some form of disciplinary council instead of going to the police in these cases to protect the school, and they are often a mockery. At least Cadets don't have that option. They have AFOSI (Air Force Office of Special Investigations), NCIS (Navy Criminal Investigative Service), or ACIC (Army Criminal Investigation Command) knocking on their door and asking questions. If a Cadet is prosecuted they could end up in prison instead of having some disciplinary council putting them on probation.
