I do not think it has reached anywhere near that stage. Pete Rose actually bet on baseball. He claims he only bet on his teams to win, but there's no way to prove that.

Even that will be pretty bad, since people involved in sports are not supposed to be betting on it - even other pro sports. The fact that he might have been helpign cover it up is potentially VERY bad. But yes, what you describe would be the best situation.
