20 punts? 8 exchanges without even a first down? Botching a snap on 1st-and-goal (on the 4) when ANY score wins the game? 13 penalties for 129 yards by FSU? FSU only gets 12 first downs and you can't put them away? General incredibly sloppy play?
Both teams came out like it was the first game of the season. They were sloppy. They were both not executing efficiently. It looked entirely like a week 1 game. The only difference was it was between two top notch teams rather than an Uber Team vs. a Peon.
That is what I blame the coaches for. They are clearly no longer able to get their players ready for a game after 4+ weeks off. Their time is past. They should both retire. The only thing that keeps their teams from eternal suckitude (instead, their teams are just USUALLY crappy over the last 5 years) is their enormous legacy and the foundational strength of their programs that guarantee awesome recruiting.
There is no excuse for a sloppy game like that. The injury thing is meaningless. Tons of teams that played in bowl games had injuries. Almost every single SEC team lost at least one extremely important skill player.
Incidentally, this same issue is what I am most angry at Mark Richt for. UGA came out like a bunch of sleepyheaded nimrods who were not taking the opponent seriously. If they'd played half as well in the 1st quarter as they did the rest of the game, they would have had an easy victory. He is a young coach, however, and hopefully he'll learn from this (like learning to watch for the fake punt when your underdog opponent is desperate! SHEESH!). If he doesn't learn from that, then he ALSO needs to retire.
