College Football - Week 11 (11/12/05)

Week 11 features UGA at home against Auburn. UGA needs to win out against Auburn and Kentucky to take the SEC East.

I'm stoked. I need LSU to beat Alabama with a vengeance, and then drop to unranked Mississippi next week. Then USC and miami get beat down.... and you're looking at a Texas-Penn State championship. One can only hope.

What a letdown... Auburn beats UGA BARELY and LSU beats Alabama BARELY. That makes the SEC title picture even blurrier than it was to begin with. I can't believe I stayed up til 3:30am to watch that crap. At least FSU sucked another loss.

We had Auburn at 4th and 10 on their own 34, and they do this:

Brandon Cox pass complete to Devin Aromashodu for 63 yards to the UGA 3 for a 1ST down.

Fucking prevent defense. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know what was even worse then the prevent defense, Georgia caused a fumble at the four, and they would have recovered it if the safety #2 who was running behind the play hadn't stopped and watched the ball pop out. When he stopped an Auburn player ran around him and recovered the ball, because the player who stripped it had no chance at getting to it, but #2 could have easily gotten to it if he continued to pursue until the whistle was blown.

I'm glad Florida State lost, I hate them so much. The good thing for Georgia is overrated Florida got beat by South Carolina, so with a win next week the clinch the SEC East. LSU has sole control of the SEC West if they win out, but as long as they lose to UGA in the SEC Championship I'll be happy.

I love how Miami is overrated, but they'll get beat again by FSU in the ACC Championship because Florida State clinched the ACC North even with their shitty 7-3 record, they could actually lose next week and still make it, going to show how bum the ACC really is.

I definitly don't see Texas losing to any of the power puff Big 12 teams, just won't happen, but USC has two tough games left, Fresno State and UCLA... One could only hope for a loss between these two teams to see a Penn State - Texas matchup in the Rose Bowl. I know Leshrak is with me!

The Georgia game is so disappointing that I can't stop thinking about it. The Florida game didn't bother me that much, because our best player was hurt, and honestly, to only give up scores on their first two drives when they came off a bye week (and teams coming off bye weeks always come out hot) wasn't that bad. Also, if our kicker doesn't choke away two field goals, its a win.

But to lose this game by giving up a 64 yard play on 4th down, and to fail to recover that fumble, just makes me ill.

Part of me is thinking that maybe Georgia really has been playing above themselves all year anyway. The team is very young, lost its defensive coordinator, and lost a CRAPLOAD of starters who either graduated or left early. The fact that they've done as well as they have is pretty amazing.

If UGA can manage to win the SEC I would definitely consider this a HUGE year of dramatically exceeding expectations. At this point, all I need to be happy with this season is to win the SEC east and win our bowl game. Winning the SEC would be huge gravy.

As for the National Title, I can't pray enough for USC to lose and get booted from the title picture. A Texas-Penn State game would be great imho.

UGA has the East all but clinched. They don't have the same competition as the West... no offense, of course. We got Auburn and LSU to fight over it. LSU has shit teams to beat, and Alabama and Auburn have each other in the Iron Bowl. Bragging rights AND possible claim to the West IF LSU manages to lose. Look at it this way, LSU chokes against one of both of their regular season teams, your dreams of PSU-Texas are closer to coming true while we may just get a shot at the SEC title. Kinda sucks that one loss, one play, could mean the difference between national title and not even making the Conference championship game. But we definitely have a bowl! I just feel sorry for Croyle and the rest of the seniors.
