Coincidence? Or is Hollywood influencing your vote?

Some experts claim that violent video games lead kids to be violent themselves. They claim that music influences people to do things they would not ordinarily do. Movies/Shows can desensitize people and make them more willing to accept things they wouldn't otherwise accept.

Someone who is on the bandwagon to get rid of violent/mature videogames is Hillary Clinton.

If we are able to be influenced by such things then, and Hillary Clinton is right in her attempts to get such things banned then does it not strike anyone else as beyond coincidence that a new tv show about a female president is airing on ABC.

Is this an attempt to desensitize people to the thought of Hillary in the Presidents chair?

    Thoughts? Opinions? Flames?
If violence is not your last resort, you have failed to resort to enough of it.

My answer to these types of stereotypes is this:

"Wow, Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao Zedong...instert name of evil nasty dude here...must have watched lots of horror movies, listened to lots of evil metal music and played lots of violent games.

Oh wait, given their time in history, probably not. Damn, your theory seems to fall done there...and for the five thousand blood soaked violent years of mankind prior to movies, metal music and video games."

The argument could go either way. The show could desensitize the public, but that can work in multiple ways.

Maybe they wouldn't be that fired up to go vote for her.

Or, maybe they wouldn't let the fact that she's a woman stop them from voting for her.

I think it's a wash. I missed the first episode of the show, and I've really wanted to see it all summer.

    Anyone catch it?

Interestingly, I saw an ad in Newsweek for the show and it was actually highly suspicious in this regard.

It was only a silhouette of Gena Davis in a women's business suit (so in a way, it could almost be any woman) and the bold text said something like:

"Are you ready for a woman president?"

I'll try to remember to grab the ad and bring it downstairs so I can quote it exactly.

It is indeed possible that part of the motivation for the show, or the motivation for the network in greenlighting it, is to get the public ready psychologically for a woman president (with the specific idea of Hillary in mind).
Capitalization is the difference between "I had to help my Uncle Jack off a horse." and "I had to help my uncle jack off a horse."

There is never a good time for lazy writing!

I saw it, and it has some promise, but the premiere was very badly written. The characters are all cardboard cutout charicatures, and it kept hitting the same solitary note over and over again - woman president, "WOW! Woman President"

    "OMFG!!!! Woman President"

I suspect they think the audience is so stupid that political drama has to be painted in cartoon colors. I am hoping the rest of the series doesn't treat the audience so patronizingly.

I dunno. I didn't think I would enjoy "West Wing" but I ended up liking it a lot.

It might just be, you know, a nice entertaining show. I withold judgement...
