I went to private school for the last three years of secondary school (up until age 16), and it was a christian (CoE) school (although neither me, nor my parents are christian). But this was in the UK, and the Christianity was never forced, just certain things were upheld (like saints days, church services and that). I have little experience of American Christianity, but I know that sort of thing would get stomped on over here quickly, if it happened at all.

I guess its all based on the school though.

The Church of England is nothing like the evangelical sects of Christianity popular in the U.S.

I've always said Jesus suffers from bad public representation.
I know you believe you understand what you think I said. But I am not sure you realise that what you heard is not what I meant.

here's a pdf that gives you the fundamentals of Calvinism:

This is actually a web site that calls Calvinism a cult, not a site about Calvinism. I think I would trust Wikipedia (sp?) before I would trust this site for straight up info on Calvinism. The thing Calvinism is most known for is its teachings on predestination and its perhaps extreme church discipline decisions based on that set of beliefs. Calvinism is not, however, considered a cult by most mainstream Christians.

For Dal's benefit, there really is nothing about Calvinism per se that would cause them to HAVE to do this, but the school policy is not out of sync with Christianity in general. Christians are told to come apart and be separate to some degree.

I'm really dumb when it comes to religions but where in the bible does it specify that homosexuality is a sin?

They aren't very touchy feely verses I'm afraid, but:

    Leviticus 18:22, 20:13
1 Kings 14:24 (some people don't believe this one applies)
    Romans 1:24, 26, 27.

There are others. Many liberal Christians believe that these refer only to homosexuality done in observance of a pagan rite of some sort. Obviously there is disagreement with this interpretation among conservative types, and a lot of people who don't really know.

Christians do not observe Levitical law, so the first one is irrelevent.

The Roman reference was a letter Paul wrote to a church wherein the men of the church (who were otherwise straight by the way), were engaging in sex with young temple prostitutes, both male and female, as part of that particular church's attempts to integrate traditional Roman worship into the new Christian church. Paul was condemning that practice, as would most any christian, no matter how "liberal" - and the passage has nothing to do with "homosexuality" as a modern western reader would understand the term.

Finally, even you acknowledge the King's reference is pushing it.
