One thing about Southwest Airlines. Someone in that company was smart or knew something. They bought a whole bunch of oil. They got this oil at a cheap price and now they are set for quite awhile. I got this information from a Delta representative who spoke at a travel meeting I attended in Chicago. Southwest is making money because of this. Other airlines are forced to buy drums of oil at the higher price and are find it much more difficult to stay afloat.

About Delta... filing chapter 11 doesn't mean they are bankrupt. I should probably read up to see if they have actually declared bankruptcy or not. I am just noting what I know about bankruptcy and chapter 11 is not bankruptcy it just stops the creditors coming after them for money. It also gives them a chance to reorganize. If they fail to reorganize then they file chapter 7 (for some reason my mind is drawing a blank but I believe it's 7) That's when they have filed for bankruptcy.

So SWA, way to go! Smart move buying all that oil at set price.
